View of Scripture
We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. (The words recorded by the writers were God-breathed, extending to every part of the Scriptures.) The Scriptures are inerrant, infallible, and God-breathed, and therefore are the final authority for faith and life. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are the complete and divine revelation of God to man. We believe the Scriptures to be divinely preserved. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 1 Peter 1:23–25; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Psalm 12:6)
Triune God
We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – co-eternal in being, one in essence, power, and glory, and each possessing all the attributes and perfections of deity. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; John 14:10, 26; 1 John 5:7)
Deity of Jesus
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men. (Isaiah 7:14; 9:6; Luke 1:35; John 1:1-2, 14; 2 Corinthians 5:19-21; Galatians 4:4- 5; Philippians 2:5-8)
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through his sacrificial, substitutionary suffering and death on the cross, and that our justification is made sure by His literal, bodily resurrection from the dead. (Acts 2:18-36; Romans 4:23–25; 1 Peter 2:24; Ephesians 1:7; 1 Peter 1:3)
Salvation
We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and is received not by works but by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for our redemption and the forgiveness of sins. (John 1:12; Ephesians 1:7; 2:8-10; 1 Peter 1:18-19; 1 John 2:2)
Baptism
We believe that water baptism is an important first step of obedience in following Jesus. Believers should be baptized but it does not accomplish Salvation, it is simply a step of obedience.
Communion
We believe the Bible teaches the importance of communion as an ordinance found by the example of Christ and reflected in 1 Corinthians 11:17-34. As believers in Jesus, we partake in remembrance of Him.
Sanctity of Life
The sanctity of life means that humanity is more sacred than the rest of creation. We believe the Bible stands for that reality. We believe the Bible speaks against things that harm the sanctity of life such as abortion, abuse, oppression, human trafficking and many other things which violate the sanctity of life.
Unity in Christ
We believe that unity that believers have in Christ should unite us more than anything else. At Village, we may have differing perspectives but we strive to unite around Christ. We believe it is possible to have unify without uniformity.
We invite you to an “Intro to Village” class that meets throughout the year to find out more about Village.
